La Marzocco Maintenance in Melbourne: Micra, Mini R and GS3

A La Marzocco at home becomes part of your daily routine. Looking after it means keeping the coffee-contact surfaces clean, using suitable water and planning professional servicing before a small problem interrupts that routine.

This guide from Three Bears Coffee Studio in Melbourne covers the Linea Micra, Linea Mini R and GS3. It explains what owners can organise, what belongs with a technician, and why annual servicing matters for the manufacturer's warranty.

Daily cleaning and professional servicing have different jobs

Your model's manual should guide routine cleaning, including care of the steam wand, portafilter, baskets and drip tray, and the correct cleaning cycle and products. Follow the instructions for your exact machine rather than transferring a routine from another model. La Marzocco provides model manuals and maintenance resources.

A professional service addresses components inside the machine as well as wear items. La Marzocco Home's Australian servicing information describes yearly preventative maintenance, with replacement and rebuilding work followed by a service checklist. A clean exterior does not tell you the condition of internal seals or valves.

Internal electrical, boiler and pressurised-system work should be left to an appropriately qualified technician. The examples below help you discuss a service; they are not instructions for opening or repairing a machine yourself.

Which parts are replaced, rebuilt or checked?

The lists below translate the model-specific service references reviewed on 15 October 2026 into an owner-friendly checklist. Part numbers help your technician identify the correct item; they are not a recommendation to order parts or carry out repairs yourself. “Replace” means fit a replacement part; “rebuild” means service the assembly using the specified kit. Confirm the current schedule and compatibility for your serial number.

The references also list spare parts a technician may carry for diagnosis. Those are not automatic annual replacements. An explicit interval still matters wherever it appears in the list, including the 24-month expansion valves.

  • Shower screen — F304001: the screen at the brew group; quantity 1.

12-month work

  • Steam rebuild kit — B1012R: rebuild the steam assembly, quantity 1.
  • Safety valve 2.5 — B2042: replace, quantity 1.
  • Basket spring — L113LM: replace the spring retaining the basket, quantity 1.
  • Tank-to-pump PVC tubing — T3003: replace; the reference specifies 500 mm, quantity 1.
  • SMA rebuild kit — LM1037: rebuild every 12 months, quantity 1. The technician should confirm the fitted assembly and kit compatibility.

24-month work

  • Three-way brew valve, 0.6 mm — B400701: replace, quantity 1.
  • Micra expansion valve — B2041: replace, quantity 1.

Other items such as copper washers, brew-element O-rings, electronic boards and the pumping body appear as diagnostic or spare-stock items in the reference. The pump entry specifically requires a serial-number check. They are not all scheduled for annual replacement.

Linea Mini R: parts and service intervals

Replace at each service

  • Group gasket — H3018: quantity 1. H3018 is the part number in the service checklist; the Linea Mini R V1 parts catalogue (figure 9) lists H3004/H3007, so have an approved technician confirm the correct gasket for your serial number and fitted group before ordering.
  • Shower screen — F304001: quantity 1.

12-month work

  • Steam rebuild kit — LM1053: rebuild, quantity 1.
  • Safety valve 2.5 — B202501: replace, quantity 1.
  • Solenoid plunger — L100/H: rebuild the relevant assemblies; the reference lists quantity 3.
  • Basket spring — L113LM: replace, quantity 1.
  • Tank-to-pump PVC tubing — T3003: replace; the reference specifies 600 mm, quantity 1.
  • SMA rebuild kit — LM1037: rebuild every 12 months, quantity 1; confirm the fitted assembly.

24-month work

  • Expansion valve — B2041: replace, quantity 1. This interval is stated even though the item sits among parts a technician may bring for a longer-distance visit.

Other listed items, including the restrictor, solenoid coil, Wi-Fi board, pump, heating elements and temperature probes, are diagnostic or contingency spares. Their presence does not mean they all need replacing. Ask which replacements, rebuilds and checks are included in your quote.

GS3: parts, AV/MP differences and serial-number checks

Replace at each service

  • Group gasket — H3004: quantity 1.
  • Shower screen — F304001: quantity 1.

12-month work

  • Steam tap kit — B1004k: rebuild, quantity 1.
  • Basket spring — L113LM: replace, quantity 1.
  • Tank-to-pump PVC tubing — T3003: replace; the reference specifies 450 mm, quantity 1.
  • Solenoid plunger — L100/H: replace; the list gives quantity 3, with quantity 2 for MP.
  • Safety valve 2.5 — B202501: replace, quantity 1.

Version-dependent 12-month work

  • Older MP paddle rebuild kit — SA60001K: the list specifies replacement every 12 months for MP machines before serial number 7604; quantity 1.
  • Vacuum-valve O-ring — H1001; Teflon pad — B3001; shaft — B201301: the list specifies 12-month replacement, quantity 1 each, but flags these as variant-dependent. Check machine age and fitted valve.
  • SMA rebuild kit — LM1037: listed for a 12-month rebuild, quantity 1, in the same variant-dependent section. Do not assume it is required in addition to every older valve component.
  • Conical-valve upper O-ring — H1018; lower O-ring — H1006: replace every 12 months, quantity 1 each, for the conical-valve arrangement identified from serial number 7604. Have the technician verify the applicable configuration.

24-month work

  • Expansion valve — L140CLM: replace, quantity 1.

The conical-valve section also lists fibre gasket L103B, group-cap O-ring L103A and conical-body/adaptor O-rings H101001 as contingency items, without a fixed replacement interval in that section. Other entries such as displays, boards, pump and heating elements are spare-stock or diagnostic items. They are not a blanket annual replacement package.

Water quality is part of machine care

La Marzocco Home says water must meet its specified parameters. “Filtered” or “bottled” alone does not establish suitability: the result needs checking, and filtration needs vary by location. Follow filter-cartridge replacement recommendations and review water suitability when your supply or filter changes.

Use the manufacturer's water requirements and linked water calculator, or ask its technical team for advice. Keep a record of the water and filtration you use.

Annual servicing is a condition of the manufacturer's warranty

La Marzocco Home's publicly available June 2025 warranty states: “Your machine is serviced annually by a La Marzocco approved technician.” This is an express condition of its manufacturer's warranty, alongside other requirements including cleaning and suitable filtered water. Failing to meet the servicing condition may affect or invalidate cover under that warranty.

Check the warranty terms supplied with your purchase and confirm the applicable version with La Marzocco. The published document describes a 24-month manufacturer's warranty; it should not be read as a limit on all consumer rights. Read the manufacturer's warranty terms.

Australian Consumer Law guarantees are separate. The ACCC explains that a warranty cannot remove those statutory rights, including where a warranty's servicing condition has not been met. A particular claim still depends on its circumstances.

Indicative workshop service costs

For budgeting, the indicative workshop service costs below include 10% GST:

  • Linea Micra: approximately A$473 including GST.
  • Linea Mini R: approximately A$627 including GST.
  • GS3: approximately A$572 including GST.

These are workshop service estimates, not fixed Three Bears Coffee Studio packages or on-site service prices. The final quote can vary with the machine's condition, version and required work. Do not assume every replacement part listed in this guide is included. Confirm the service scope, parts, labour and any transport or additional charges with the service provider before booking.

Keep a simple service record

  • Record your model, version, serial number and purchase date.
  • Keep the purchase invoice, service invoices and technician's work reports.
  • Note the water supply, filtration and filter-change dates.
  • Before a visit, describe any change in operation and ask what the quote includes.
